Now I will answer some of the questions I’ve ignored so far. Narita airport was pretty typical of airports I’ve seen. We landed at a “remote terminal” and had to be bussed from there to the main terminal, but other than that it was pretty standard. Tokyo has at least two airports, so it’s not as busy as you might think.

The classroom policy is no food, but beverages are mostly OK. This is good because a couple mornings a quick run to the vending machine for a can of coffee has been absolutely necessary.

The nomihodai has a specific menu you can order from. There is beer of course and we drink a lot of that, but there is also hard stuff available. And yes, there is sake. Apparently the Japanese don’t understand the concept of a mixed drink, as you can’t get something as simple as whiskey and Coke. However, you can get Coke and whiskey separately and mix them yourself. It’s a little strange, but works. Japanese beers range from bad to pretty good. I have yet to experience a “great” Japanese beer, but here’s hoping.

“Blog” is short for weblog. That’s web as in world wide web, and log as in journal. You’re reading my blog right now.

One night at Shirokiya, I demanded a whiskey and coke and they thought I was insane for mixing them. However, as a 200 pound white guy, I wasn’t going to let them deny me my booze of choice and they brought it to me, albeit quite weak.

I hear it’s raining a lot there. Do you still feel gay carrying an umbrella?

No, I'm cool with the umbrella thing. It hasn’t really “rained” so much as drizzled a lot in my opinion, but I’ll cover that in a later post.
