My Kingdom for a Wii
So, I still don’t have a Wii. Which means it’s been a rough week and a half for me, watching a constant stream of Wii news and reviews roll in without being able to experience it for myself. I’ve got to get my hands on a Wii!
My condition is certainly not due to lack of trying. The night of the launch I was attending a friend’s wedding at home, and therefore couldn’t participate in any sort of camping or line-waiting. By the time I got to the local Wal-Mart (the only store in the whole county to even sell them, I’m sure), it was far too late.
Since then I’ve been doing my best to track store shipments and stay of top of my chances. I stood in line outside Best Buy Sunday morning after hearing they were expecting more; arriving around 7:20 put me at #22 in line. At about 8:15 the manager emerged to distribute tickets the number of units they’d received. Which was fifteen.
There have been a few pluses I guess. My buying list has certainly been revised. After sadly mediocre reviews, Red Steel has dropped right off the list. Excite Truck has fallen from grace as well. And apparently WarioWare wasn’t a launch title after all? On the bright side, I found out that Elebits (while also not a launch title) is slated to be the first Wii game utilizing WiiConnect24. Intriguing! So with these factors under consideration, my new launch title buying list is:
- Zelda
- Trauma Center
- Rayman
Of these, I’m probably only going to pick up the first right away, simply due to scarcity of funds at the moment. But these look like a solid three titles to have on hand until some post-launch material makes its way down the pipeline.
